School of Religion
Religion classes help parents in the faith formation of their children.
Mission Statement
We foster a catechesis that has the paramount task of transmitting the knowledge of the faith and preparing our youth as witnesses of Christ in society.
Classes
Grade 1 through high school classes are conducted at Bellarmine Preparatory School on Monday evenings 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Classes follow the regular schedule of Tacoma schools.
Family Mass
Our program includes celebrating Mass at St. Rita's on the third Sunday of each month at 10:00 a.m. together with our families and teachers. Scheduled grades participate in the liturgy throughout the school year.
Community Service
Our students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of community service activities throughout the school year. Our program requires they complete three per year.
Pastor
Father Carmine Sacco, S.J. is a very visible figure in our school of religion. Father conducts high school classes once each month, visits all grade levels throughout the year, and is present with the parents' club.
Teachers
Teachers attend classes conducted by the Seattle Archdiocese throughout the year to maintain their Catechetical Certification requirements.
Parents
Parents meet on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. during class time. Parents may participate throughout the year as room parents, or by helping with one of the special activities in the school year.
Chapel
For special feasts and on other occasions in the liturgical year we gather in the chapel at the end of class. Parents are encouraged to attend this time of prayer.
Newsletter
A newsletter is published each month which contains current lesson information on each class as well as other helpful information.
